The Hot Rod Power Tour, the world’s largest traveling car show, roars into Martinsville in June.
The Hot Rod Power Tour is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a 7-city road trip that will see more than 6,000 vehicles and 100,000-plus spectators over the week-long series. The June 9 event in Martinsville marks the first time the tour has stopped in the city. The stop is appropriate given Martinsville’s extensive automotive history and status as home of NASCAR’s oldest operating track.
Hot rods, muscle cars and more
The Hot Rod Power Tour includes all types of hot rods, muscle cars, street cars and custom trucks. Many participants travel cross-country to get involved and join in all seven stops along the way.
The tour also holds dyno competitions on each day, as well as fun runs and autocross. That doesn’t count all the aftermarket manufacturers, music and tons of other activities. The tour also hosts car shows at each stop. Heck, even the gas stops are fun to watch.
“This will be the first year that we’ve brought the Power Tour to Martinsville, so we’re very excited about that,” Michael Deer, the Power Tour’s senior director of automotive events, said in an article posted on the speedway’s website. “It’s obviously a very big and passionate motorsports and automotive community here, that combined with the track’s history will make for a very special day where we expect to see in excess of 10,000 people in attendance.”
Event details
The Hot Rod Power Tour is presented by Chevrolet Performance and Driven by Continental. The car show and manufacturer displays will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Last year, about 3,800 vehicles participated as long-haulers who followed the tour throughout its duration.
Spectator entry is free, but spectator parking is located away from the show grounds. All vehicles brought to show grounds must register as a participant.
